Struga

Located on the northern shore of Lake Ohrid, Struga is a charming lakeside town known for its relaxed atmosphere, scenic waterfront, and rich cultural traditions. Unlike its larger neighbor Ohrid, Struga offers a quieter and more laid-back setting, making it a perfect destination to enjoy the natural beauty of the lake in a peaceful environment. The town is uniquely situated where the Black Drin River flows out of the lake and begins its journey through the Balkans.

Struga is also internationally known for its literary heritage, as it hosts the renowned Struga Poetry Evenings, one of the oldest and most prestigious poetry festivals in the world. Each year, poets and writers from dozens of countries gather in the town to celebrate literature and creativity. Visitors can enjoy pleasant walks along the riverside promenade, relax on the nearby beaches, and experience the welcoming atmosphere that defines this lakeside destination.

Today, Struga combines natural beauty with cultural significance and a relaxed summer spirit. With its riverside cafés, lakeside sunsets, and long-standing literary tradition, the town offers a charming and authentic experience for travelers exploring the Ohrid region.
