Pelister National Park
Located in the southwestern part of Macedonia near Bitola, Pelister National Park is the country’s oldest national park, established in 1948. It is dominated by Mount Baba, with Pelister Peak (2,601 m) as its highest point.
Pelister is best known for its unique Molika pine forests (a rare Balkan species) and its two glacial lakes, known as the “Pelister Eyes” - Big Lake (Pelister) and Small Lake (Pelister). The park hosts diverse wildlife, including bears, wolves, deer, and numerous bird species.
With its mix of forests, alpine scenery, and panoramic views over the Pelagonia valley, Pelister is ideal for hiking, mountaineering, and peaceful nature escapes.
